Fire Captain Scott Thompson of Lincoln Nebraska pulled the family pet from a burning home on November 12.

I consider this the firefighter image of the year. If you click the link to MSNBC and look at the larger image you might agree. Captain Thompson’s expression, the rain and the frightened dog combine to make it special.
