Gap Fire Threatens Goleta Evacuations Widening

The Gap Fire is burning in the hills above Goleta California. Mandatory evacuations are in place for numerous neighborhoods. Fire officials have forecast growth of the Gap Fire as follows:

Projected incident movement/spread 12, 24, 48, and 72 hour time frames:
12 hours: 3000 Acres
24 hours: 3600
48 hours: 4000
72 hours: 5200

The fire has burned 2,400 acres and there is no containment number listed on the morning report.

Same story told across the state. Firefighters are tired, resources are exhausted. 225 firefighters are assigned to the Gap Fire. Ordinarilly this incident would have people and equipment rushing towards Santa Barbara County. The well is running dry.
